Jubilee Quartet at Lauderdale House

On March 4th the Jubilee Quartet from the Royal College of Music gave a terrific recital to a packed house (with many very young in the audience!) at Lauderdale House. They played Mendelssohn, Webern and Haydn. We’ll be hearing a lot more from them in the near future I suspect!

The CAVATINA Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition in memory of Rosemary Rapaport and Gerard Heller will be held on April 30th at RAM from 4-9pm. The EFT is giving the Audience Prize. This year the competition is for quartets, next year for trios.

Successful concert at Lauderdale House

The Castalian String Quartet gave a fantastic concert (followed by lunch) at Lauderdale House on October 2nd. We had a large and appreciative audience who were most impressed by their playing. They were the recipients of our award at the 2011 ROSL ARTS music competition – which we’re very proud about! We expect them to have a very successful future.

The Arensky Chamber Orchestra

The EFT has been supporting the new vibrant Arensky Chamber Orchestra’s 2011 season which had their final concert of this season at the Cadogan Hall, with William Kundhart conducting and Melvyn Tan playing Ravel’s piano concerto in G major to tremendous acclaim. The Fields Quarter, recently renamed the Castalian Quartet, are the 2011 recipients of the EFT award for outstanding young musicians. Congratulations to them all!

ROSL prize winners James Baillieu and The Rhodes Trio were successful in their auditions for a place on YCAT at the auditions held at the Wigmore Hall on May 21st. Congratulations to them all!

May 12th dinner and concert

On May 12th EFT friends hosted a fabulous dinner to raise funds for our projects. Ashok Klouda played the Bach Cello Partita No. 4 in Eb major and The Halcyon Quartet performed the World Premier of a new composition by James Long, Four Nocturnes, and Mendelssohn’s String Quartet in A minor Op 13. Over fifty people attended.

On April 25th Mary Hofmand and Anya Fadina gave a beautiful recital. We had around 60 in the audience including some really well-behaved children! We had refreshments after the concert.
